Writing Consultations

The 夜来香研究所 Writing Center offers three ways to meet with a Writing Center tutor鈥攃hoose the one that works best for you! We work with all writers at all stages of the writing process, but make sure to bring something to work on (whether that's an assignment prompt, an idea, or even a full draft).

1) In-Person Tutoring

Meet face-to-face with a consultant in Berkman Hall 208, right off the Innerlink in the Academic Support Hub. Some students find working in-person more productive, with fewer distractions making it easier to talk out ideas, brainstorm, clarify questions, and work through challenges together in real time.

2) Online Tutoring (via Zoom)

As long as you've got a device and an internet connection, you can get writing support! You鈥檒l get a Zoom meeting link automatically emailed to you after booking. Before your session, share your document in Google Docs or OneDrive with proper permissions so your tutor can access it right away. This keeps the focus on your writing鈥攏ot on troubleshooting file sharing.

3) Written Feedback

Get detailed, personalized comments from a tutor鈥攏o meeting required. Asynchronous and super flexible, Written Feedback allows you to submit your draft and your goals, give us a "return by" date, and then receive written suggestions you can work through at your own pace. This option is great if you have a busy schedule or live off-campus, prefer to process feedback in writing, or have spotty internet or tech issues.

NOTE: Written Feedback is not an editing or proofreading service. Tutors won't "fix" your paper鈥攖hey'll get to work using the context and goals you give them to provide strategies, model revisions, curate resources, and ask questions to guide you. The goal is to help you become a stronger writer, creator, and editor of your own work.

When booking in-person or online sessions, be sure to check in Starfish which tutors are in-person, online, or offer both, so you pick the right type of appointment. For written feedback sessions, just fill out the form with as much detail as possible. The more information your tutor has, the more targeted and thorough the feedback will be.
